With so many advancements in cardiology, what are the current standard treatment options available for coronary artery disease, and how do you determine the best course of action for each patient?
Decision between coronary artery bypass and stenting is typically determined by extent of blockages as well as patient suitability for open heart surgery. Additionally, other factors such as diabetes and heart strength play a role in deciding what option is better for a certain patient
What are the current treatment approaches for valve heart disease, and how do you choose among medical therapy, surgical intervention, and minimally invasive procedures for your patients?
Treatment for valvular heart disease typically depends on the cause and the type of valvular heart disease. If patient has mostly secondary or functional valvular heart disease, we typically try to address the underlying cause such as weak heart muscle, atrial fibrillation or heart rhythm and treatment of blockages in the heart. First. Heart first. This may be accompanied by or predominantly treated with medications. However, in patience with primary heart valve disease with pathology involving valve tissue in patients with symptoms or causing strain /weakness in heart strength. Typically heart valve repair or replacement is recommended. Choice between open heart surgery versus minimally invasive option treatment depends on patient's age, valve pathology and the risk factors for open surgery.
