About Pramod Guru

Dr. Pramod K. Guru, M.B.B.S., M.D., D.M., FASN, is a Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and a Consultant in the Departments of Critical Care Medicine, Nephrology, and Transplantation at Mayo Clinic, Florida. He is a highly trained physician specializing in critical care, nephrology, and advanced life-support therapies, including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).

Dr. Guru earned his medical degree from SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, India, and completed his M.D. in Internal Medicine and D.M. in Nephrology at PGIMER, Chandigarh. He further completed advanced training in the United States, with board certifications in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, and Critical Care Medicine, and additional specialization in ECMO and mechanical circulatory support at Mayo Clinic, Rochester.

He currently serves as Director of the Adult ECMO Program, Program Director of the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship, and Chair of the Mortality Review Committee at Mayo Clinic Florida. Dr. Guru has also contributed to national medical education initiatives, including serving on the ABIM question-writing committee. His academic work focuses on ECMO, critical care medicine, and acute renal failure, and he has been actively involved in teaching and research in these areas.
